Kristoffer Dalby 7ea9f0c766 .github: add macOS SSH exit-status CI job 
Run TestOpenSSHExitCodes and TestIntegrationExitCodes on macos-latest
under sudo against the existing `runner` account
(TS_SSH_INTEGRATION_TEST_USER=runner). Complements the Linux docker
matrix and exercises the actual macOS OpenSSH binary that users of
#18256 are running.

Diagnostic capture is the load-bearing part:

  Preflight step dumps uname, sw_vers, id, id runner, ssh -V,
  dscl runner UserShell, /etc/ssh, and sudo capability before any
  test runs. A future failure on this runner can be diagnosed from
  the artifact alone.

  Each test step has continue-on-error and its outcome is consumed
  by a final aggregator: a failure in one step doesn't mask the
  other, doubling the signal per failed run.

  Test output tees to per-step log files; /tmp/tailscalessh.log
  (the incubator log, root-owned) is sudo-copied and uploaded
  together with the test logs as a 14-day artifact.

  sudo PATH is set explicitly to /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:
  /usr/sbin:/sbin:$PATH rather than inheriting GitHub's PATH, which
  doesn't always include /usr/sbin.

Per-step timeout is 5m, giving the in-test 3x retry headroom.

Private WireGuard® networks made easy

Overview

This repository contains the majority of Tailscale's open source code. Notably, it includes the tailscaled daemon and the tailscale CLI tool. The tailscaled daemon runs on Linux, Windows, macOS, and to varying degrees on FreeBSD and OpenBSD. The Tailscale iOS and Android apps use this repo's code, but this repo doesn't contain the mobile GUI code.

Using

We serve packages for a variety of distros and platforms at https://pkgs.tailscale.com.

Other clients

The macOS, iOS, and Windows clients use the code in this repository but additionally include small GUI wrappers. The GUI wrappers on non-open source platforms are themselves not open source.

Building

We always require the latest Go release, currently Go 1.26. (While we build releases with our Go fork, its use is not required.)

go install tailscale.com/cmd/tailscale{,d}

If you're packaging Tailscale for distribution, use build_dist.sh instead, to burn commit IDs and version info into the binaries:

./build_dist.sh tailscale.com/cmd/tailscale
./build_dist.sh tailscale.com/cmd/tailscaled

If your distro has conventions that preclude the use of build_dist.sh, please do the equivalent of what it does in your distro's way, so that bug reports contain useful version information.
